Decent Music

Artist: Owl City
Album: Ocean Eyes.

Great album, toook me a while to get into, as all i listened to was "Fireflies" on replay the first time i acquired it. However this album is a masterpiece of fine quality put together very elegantly. Each track brings you something very different and very personal, and can change your emotion from one track to the next.
if your in a dark room, this alum is immense to just sit and listen to.
From melodic beats, and synths, to great vocals, this album really has a unique ring to it.

 Artist : John Mayer
Album: Battle Studies

"Its heartbreak warfare..." , from the first song of this album, rings the themes of; love and its struggle. The latest album (2009) of record selling artist John Mayer.

This album has shown the maturity in which Mayer has came to know, from his lyrics to a change in his approach to his music. Lyrically this album is sound, and you feel that it comes straight from the heart and that a listener can become involved and relate to what is being said.
Musically John has moved towards more rockier, blues and upbeat tones for the album, while yet keeping his old roots, of acoustic blues in there too. Songs such as "Who says and "Half of my heart" show this, while undoubtedly my favourite song of the album "Assassin" is a new approach to his music, and shows Mayers true ability as a music artist.
In the album, we go from rockin' tunes to chilled out ones the next minute, but yet every track seems to compliment one another as it goes along.
With slick licks and riffs, (Edge of Desire, Crossroads), to soft vocals in "All we ever do", we see the true potential of one of the upcoming guitarist and artists in the world, to becoming one of the all-time greats along with Clapton, Beck, etc... definitely an album one must have in their collection, whether a fan or not of John, his music is undeniably supreme.
Oh and by the way, did i mention, his live performances are awesome, check them out.

Artist: You Me At Six
Album: Hold Me Down

So what can be said about the awesome, new found fame, "ym@s"?
How to continue on from such a success from their previous album? Why make a more awesome, more powerfully structured one, with catchy rhymes, exploding choruses, blistering pace riffs and beats of course!

The band really have nailed it here, i mean this is an album from the very first song that you just can't get enough off. "The consequence" is such a powerful opening with amazing lead guitar rifts that will have you on the edge of your seat, and who can forget the lyrics, 'real big plans and such bad thoughts' which will you will be singing over and over for the next week (or screaming!)
Other tracks such as "Underdog" or  "Liquid Confidence" define the maturity of the music that is being made here. Or what about "Trophy Eyes" with the annoyingly catchy, yet so simple delay riff? bring it on! May i just add that lead singer Josh vocals have came on a good bit, as well as the bands musical maturity.

You Me At Six
Then the album ebds with the epic "Fireworks" which one can not just get enough of, it will get girls hearts breaking and boys eyes watering!

In whole the band have reached a whole new level in my opinion with this album, setting new boundaries in the modern pop punk scene, which bands will find hard to follow.
Definitely a MUST HAVE album, that you will be singing over for years to come. Good job guys!

 Artist : We The Kings
Album : Smile Kid

I've been listening and following this band for a while and watched them grow from strength to strenght.

This album shows real depth in vocals and raw, catch riffs. Songs such as "She Takes Me High" and "Summer Love" show how the band in general bring out a 'feel good' feeling which surrounds the album.

"Heaven Can Wait" is yet another classic song which will be a summer anthem in the car in which you can sing along too.

Yes there arn't many outstanding guitar solo's or epic ballad's in the album, but thats not the purpose. The feel good nature, in which one could listen to over and over again and sing along to after one or two listens to a track is the single most interesting thing that this album does for you.
Overall dont get rid of this album too quickly, it will slowly grow on you...

Artist : Coheed & Cambria
Album: Year of the Black Rainbow

Well, here we have yet another album from the legendary Coheed. This album lives up to many expectations, and though the official "story" has ended within mystical story line, we cannot help imagine that the sotry llives on through this album, with fantastic vocals from Claudio, and well structured vocals.

Tracks such as "The Broken", "World of Lines" and "Made Out of Nothing" show the true colours of Coheed, that such die hard fans have came to know, with heavy driven riffs, and catchy melodies of the vocals.

One track that captures the attention of this album is "Here We Are Juggernaut", this powerful tune defines Coheed for all that are... and their ability to bring us great music.

Overall, im a big fan of the new album... still not my favourite of their albums, but if your an old avid fan, you will not be disappointed, and if your new to the world of Coheed and Cambria, this album wouldn 't be a bad place to start..... Enjoy!!

 Artist: Ellie Goulding
Album: Lights

Well what can i say about this album.. its not usually, my taste in music to go into, but to be honest.. i LIKE it.
The tracks are very catchy, with the mystique about them, that draw you in.
Tunes such as "Starry Eyed" and "Everytime You Go" are catchy, while songs such as "Guns&Horse" or "The Writer" show the true vocals of this upcoming talent. The atmospheric sounds thats she has used within her songs are unique and give a truer feeling of being lost in the "lights of the album.

The vocals and catchy tunes are the main source of the album without a doubt, but yet we must not take away from this artist musical ability with lyrics and basic tunes written by herself which adds extra quality in this day and ages "modern popstar".

Overall i think this album is a definite must to listen to..

Artist: All Time Low
Album: Nothing Personal (2009)

Well this is my first review on the site, but we shall see how it goes.

American Pop-Punk band AllTimeLow have been around for a while now, but this has got to be their finest work yet.

With this album the vocal ranges of singer Jack Barakat, has gone that extra mile, giving more dynamics to the songs. "Weightless" and "Lost in Stereo" show the vocal melodies at their best.

With fast paced guitars and catchy riffs, really are pounded into your head, one cannot help humming the tune i their head.
The track "walls" shows how i the studio they have proressed on the effects stage to, while "Damned if i do ya" has a raw rock feeling that will leave you wanting more.
"Therapy" is a more slower tracker, but yet the vocals and point of the song are so clear that it just one of those summer night songs. classic

Negative points?, It's been hard to pick really. I suppose the lyrics arn't the deepest, and some tunes can be a bit "samey".

Lyrically they are sound, very clever, funny, straight to the point, which go with the catchy tunes.

Overall i would recommed this album, if your looking for a "feel good" summer anthem.

"Shush!" We've got it this time
